Generations of military kids have wandered the halls of Sigsbee Elementary School and learned valuable lessons in its classrooms. For 50 years now, the school has been an anchor in Key West's military community. Mayor Morgan McPherson proclaimed May 29th Sigsbee Elementary School Day in recognition of the school's longstanding role for military families. Located on the Sigsbee Annex, the school has earned an A on the state's rating system, and it has long provided for the unique needs of children whose families relocate often in military service.
Students Lauren, Anna and Carrie White join their mother Carol White and Sigsbee Assistant Principal Mona Clark in accepting the honor from Mayor Morgan McPherson. White is the president of the schoolÕs parent teacher organization.
