Two members of the Key West Police Department — one a sworn officer and the other a civilian employee — were acknowledged for their outstanding contributions to the department. Lt. Alan Newby was named Officer of the Quarter. Crime Scene Investigator Don Guevremont was named Civilian of the Quarter. Newby contributes countless hours to the department's Equestrian Unit, dedicating much of his own time to caring for the horses, expanding his own knowledge, and training fellow officers. In addition, he has been tireless in raising hard-to-find funding for the unit. Crime Scene Investigator Don Guevremont brings his extensive knowledge to new investigations as well as working to solve the city's cold cases as well. He brings the most up-to-date technology to solving crimes in Key West. Left to right: Capt. Frank Sauer, Cypress House Proprietor Dave Taylor, Capt. Scott Smith, Det. Don Guevremont, Lt. Alan Newby, Chief Donie Lee.
