Frank O. Bonner, 79, a winter resident of Marathon, died on Oct. 13 at his Akron, Ohio, home from complications from chemotherapy and radiation treatment for lung cancer.

He was born on Sept. 5, 1930, in Cleveland. He worked in iron-ore boats on the Great Lakes, and is business venture was undertaken at age 18, flying his own plane. He also was involved in construction, fencing, warehousing and land development.

He loved boating, cruising in and around Lake Erie and down the Intracoastal Waterway. He had lived at Faro Blanco Marine Resort in Marathon for many years.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy; children Aleta, Nikki and Mark; six grandchildren; sister Nancy; niece Maureen; and three grand-nephews.

Services were held Oct. 16 in Ohio. Entombment was at Holy Cross Cemetery.
