Frank O. Bonner, 79, a winter resident of Marathon, died on Oct. 13 at his Akron, Ohio, home from complications from chemotherapy and radiation treatment for lung cancer.</p><p>He was born on Sept. 5, 1930, in Cleveland. He worked in iron-ore boats on the Great Lakes, and is business venture was undertaken at age 18, flying his own plane. He also was involved in construction, fencing, warehousing and land development.</p><p>He loved boating, cruising in and around Lake Erie and down the Intracoastal Waterway. He had lived at Faro Blanco Marine Resort in Marathon for many years.</p><p>He is survived by his wife Dorothy; children Aleta, Nikki and Mark; six grandchildren; sister Nancy; niece Maureen; and three grand-nephews.</p><p>Services were held Oct. 16 in Ohio. Entombment was at Holy Cross Cemetery.
