Kenneth Scott Holbert of Marathon was diagnosed with spinal meningitis 10 days ago and died at 2 a.m. Oct. 6. He was 52.
Mr. Holbert lived in Marathon for more than 45 years. One of Kenny's happiest memories was when he was named Florida State Senator No. 53054 representing the Greater Marathon Jaycees. He also served as president of the Marathon Volunteer Fire Department and was a member for many years.
He is survived by daughters Colleen Holbert of Waynesville, N.C., and Stephanie Holbert; granddaughter Kayla Brinson of Marathon; former spouse and lifelong friend Pamela Holbert; extended family Debi Daniels, LuAnn Paul and Ellis Paul, Bill and Michael Daniels, Ben Daniels; parents Jack and Elaine Holbert; and brothers Kirk and Charles Holbert of Utah.
A celebration of life is planned for 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 23 at the Marathon Jaycees building on 33rd Street bayside.
