Stanley Switlik School celebrates its 9th annual "Red, White, and Blue Day" Tuesday, Nov. 10.
Started following the 9/11 attacks, the program was launched to instill a sense of patriotism in the school, and to honor the people in our community who strive to keep us safe and free.
This year's celebration will be held at 9:30 a.m. in the school cafeteria. The entire student body will be in attendance.
The fifth grade chorus classes will provide special music, "American Tears," and "Welcome Home." Essays entitled, "What I Can Do For My Country," will be read by student authors.
The U.S. Coast Guard station in Marathon will be participating in Tuesday's ceremonies. Switlik invites all veterans, active duty, reservists, fire rescue, sheriff deputies, and highway patrol personnel to attend.
