Attorney Tegan Slaton is the new Group 4 Monroe County Circuit Court judge. He takes office Jan. 6.

After recounts, it appears Slaton won 16,463 to 16,459.

After three vote recounts since Election Day, he beat Mary Vanden Brook, the court administrator, by four votes of nearly 35,000 cast. The state Division of Elections is expected to certify the votes Wednesday morning.

When poll results came in on Election Day, Slaton's lead was a meager nine votes, 16,442 to 16,433, and did not include some 74 provisional ballots that had been flagged for review.

Tuesday, when provisional ballots, absentees and other ballots were counted, Slaton came out with 16,463 votes to Vanden Brook’s 16,459.
