Little League tournament games continue this week at the Key Largo Community Park but no Upper Keys teams will be on the field.
Local all-star squads in the Age 9-10 and Age 11-12 Little League District 8 tournaments were stopped by losses the past week.
The Age 9-10 Keys all-stars reached the district semifinals but fell, 14-8, in a July 3 road game in Miami-Dade County.
The game was delayed when rains soaked the scheduled playing field in Miami Springs, forcing tournament organizers to drive around in search of a playable youth-league field.
The Upper Keys Majors team was knocked out of the Age 11-12 tournament Saturday in a 14-0 loss to Homestead. That put the Keys record at 1-2 in round-robin play, not enough to reach the district semifinals.
No other Monroe County teams were active in the age groups' Little League tournaments this year.
At 7 p.m. Thursday, Kendall will be the home team at the Key Largo field, mile marker 100, for the Age 11-12 district semifinal game against a Miami-Dade team to be determined.
The Majors division District 8 pennant will be decided in an 11 a.m. Sunday game at the Key Largo Community Park.
Three Little League district winners in the Age 9-10 group come to Key Largo for a sectional tournament beginning at 7 p.m. Friday. Playoff games continue at 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. Two championship teams from Broward County and one from Miami-Dade will compete for the right to advance to the Age 9-10 state tournament.
