Islamorada needs to limit growth more

July 2, 2014

The Islamorada Village Council is presiding over the greatest betrayal of the values of this small fishing community since its inception in 1997.

We formed for one main reason: To stop big business from buying up the land, forcing the small business owners out, and making this special area just another business opportunity for the chains.

The most shocking and disappointing action they have taken has been the refusal to let us vote on new measures to control growth. They don't even want to give us the chance to vote. Remember that when they ask for your vote.

Stop the growth. Fix up what is here. Limit the size of new construction! Quit permitting large projects by combining properties. Wake up.
