Daytona Beach murder suspect found dead in Key West

April 14, 2014

A man suspected of killing his girlfriend in Daytona Beach last week was found dead Sunday at the Key West Park and Ride, 900 Caroline St.

Friday, police in Daytona Beach obtained an arrest warrant for Tom Tomkiewicz, 56, who was suspected of slashing the throat of Ann Marie Antonaccia, 58. In addition to murder, he was charged with auto theft for allegedly stealing her 1999 Toyota Camry.

Key West police spokeswoman Alyson Crean said local authorities don't suspect foul play in Tomkiewicz's death.

The Daytona Beach News Journal reported that police there believed Tomkiewicz might have fled to South Florida because he had lived in the Keys and, the newspaper said, had said he had a sailboat in Marathon.

The News Journal quoted Daytona Beach Police Chief Mike Chitwood saying Antonaccia "was brutally murdered. She suffered a violent death because of him."

Key West police are looking for Antonaccia's car.
