Homeless man jailed in beating following night of drinking

March 26, 2014

A homeless man from Islamorada was jailed Monday after reportedly beating another man after they had been drinking together.

Justin Marlowe, 26, and the victim, 50, reportedly were drinking Sunday night into Monday morning at the Hog Heaven bar, the Monroe County Sheriff's Office says. They left together around 3 a.m., and the victim told deputies that's when Marlowe attacked him, knocking him unconscious.

The victim reportedly told Marlowe he needed medical help, and Marlowe reportedly got the victim's cell phone and dropped it on him so he could call for help. Marlowe then rode away on a bicycle.

He was found Monday afternoon around mile marker 87 and arrested for aggravated battery.
