Some streetlights on Sombrero Beach Road in Marathon got turned on.
On Jan 11, a city employee explained in a letter to the editor of the Keynoter the trouble with the lights on Sombrero Beach Road. The promise was all would be repaired and working by Jan 27. Well, guess what?
We now only have 18 lights out instead of 31, so we are making progress. Given another year and a half, we should be able to be secure on the sidewalk and bike path.
The Old joke was how many workers does it take to replace the light bulbs. Answer: None, it must go to a committee and be bid out.
As you might be able to tell I am disappointed in the approach to this problem of security and good looks, and the message it sends to visitors.
