That is, a municipality was incorporated at the very tip of the Keys, on the edge of Biscayne Bay, but nothing was ever developed. It's unclear if Islandia's charter has lapsed. Some maps, atlases, weather reports, guides, GPS systems and other references based on official databases still list Islandia. It has however, actually vanished beneath the bay.
