A Coral Shores High School relay swimming team and two Hurricane divers will wait to see if their seasons continue after Thursday's Region 4-1A meet at Nova Southeastern University in Davie.
No Key West swimmer, however, will advance to the state meet Nov. 14 in Orlando.
The Hurricane boys 200-yard freestyle team of Daniel Michael, Arlo Simonds, Davis Zethki and Ray Vaughn finished in seventh place and could advance to the state meet depending on results from three other regional meets. That had not been determined early Friday.
Coral Shores divers Meghan Miller and Taylor Anderson, who finished sixth and seventh, respectively, also could advance.
Overall, many Hurricane swimmers lowered personal-best times, even though they didn't advance. Matt Herum was ninth in the 100 breaststroke and A.J. Hamer was 14th in the 200 individual medley.
The Coral Shores girls 200 free team of Dannon Magrane, Michaela Waters, Raisa Santiesteban and Sarah Blackwell was 10th, as was the boys 200 IM team of Luis Santiesteban, Hamer, Herum and Vaughn.
The girls 200 IM team of Taelor Cuppett, Blackwell, Katie Fry and Magrane was 11th.
For Key West, Max Kohler was 24th overall in the 500 free. The boys 400 free relay team of Clay Wagner, Scott Buchman, Brandon Cyr and Kohler was 12th, the boys 200 free team of Cyr, A.J. Hally, Nicolas Palay and Lucas Mongelli was 13th, as was the girls 200 free team of Effie Ford, Alessandra Hally, Emily Hepworth and Orla Winner.
"Our kids always swam with heart," said Conch coach Lori Bosco. "It was an exciting season."
