Key West and Coral Shores high schools will be well represented in the Region 4-1A swim meet that begins at 9 a.m. Thursday at Nova Southeastern University in Davie.
Four Conch and four Coral Shores relay teams will compete. Individuals also qualified in solo races.
Individual winners at the Oct. 28 district meet immediately qualified for the regional, but relay spots weren't determined until time comparisons were made from the other four district meets in Region 4A.
The Conch girls 200-yard freestyle team of Effie Ford, Alessandra Hally, Emily Hepworth and Orla Winner qualified, as did the boys 200 freestyle team of A.J. Hally, Brandon Cyr, Nicolas Palay and Lucas Mongelli.
Also in is the boys 400 free team of Clay Wagner, Scott Buchman, Cyr and either Hally or Max Kohler. Kohler will also swim in the 500 freestyle.
Overall, 16 Coral Shores swimmers qualified for the regional.
Coral Shores learned that four of its relay teams are advancing -- the girls 200 medley team (Taelor Cuppett, Sarah Blackwell, Katie Fry and Dannon Magrane), the girls 200 free team (Magrane, Michaela Walters, Raisa Santiesteban and Sarah Blackwell), the girls 400 free team (Walters, Santiestaben, Cuppett and Magrane) and the boys 200 medley team (Luis Santiesteban, A.J. Hamer, Matt Herum and Ray Vaughn).
Hurricane boys who qualified last week were Hamer and Santiesteban (200 IM), Hamer (100 butterfly), Vaughn and Santiesteban (100 free), Herum (100 breaststroke) and Daniel Michael, Arlo Simonds, Davis Zethki and Vaughn in the 200 free.
